Every family has one: the parent who says "Ah, don't get me anything." They mean it, they have everything they need, and it makes Christmas shopping for them almost impossible.
The gifts that land with parents are rarely things. They're reminders. And few things remind them of more than the house where they raised you.
A map of the family home
We put the family home at the centre of the map, with the roads around it you all walked a thousand times: the way to school, the shop at the corner, the church, the pitch. Underneath goes the family name and the years you lived there.
It works whether the house is still the family home or was sold years ago. For parents who have downsized, it's often the most emotional gift they get all year.
What to write on it
- Where we grew up, the classic, from the children
- Home, simple and hard to argue with
- The Murphys, est. 1985, with your own family name and year
- All roads lead here, for the house everyone still comes back to at Christmas
A gift from all of you
This is a good one to split between brothers and sisters. A large framed print (50x70 cm) makes a real centrepiece over a fireplace or in a hallway, and split three or four ways it comes in at the price of a nice bottle of wine each.
For grandparents too
The same idea works for grandparents: the house where they raised your parents, or the town they came from. Some families order two copies, one for the grandparents and one for the parents.
Choosing the look
For a hallway or living room, Monochrome and Black & Gold are the safe, classic choices. If the house is near the sea, Ocean or Coastal shows the water beautifully. Not sure? Pick "Help me choose" in the editor and tell us a little about their home. You can also read our guide to picking a map style.
Get it in time for Christmas
Every print is made to order and checked by hand before it prints. Delivery is free to Ireland and the UK. For Christmas, order framed prints by 7 December and unframed prints by 14 December.
