How to pick the perfect map style for your poster

Choosing a map style is one of those decisions that feels small but changes everything. The same city, the same shape, the same words — but switch from Monochrome to Blueprint and you've gone from minimal gallery-wall to moody architectural print. Here's a quick guide to each palette so you can pick the one that's right for your space.

Monochrome

Black roads and buildings on an off-white background. Clean, timeless, works with literally any interior. If you're unsure what style to pick, start here. It's the one that looks like it belongs in a frame on every wall.

Blueprint

Dark navy background with pale lines — inspired by architectural drawings. Dramatic and bold, especially at 50×70 or 60×90 cm. Works beautifully in home offices, kitchens and dark-walled rooms.

Black & Gold

Charcoal background with warm gold tones. The most luxurious-feeling of all the styles. Great as a gift, or for a bedroom or living room where you want something with real presence.

Terracotta

Warm cream and clay tones. Soft and earthy. Sits naturally in rooms with warm lighting, wooden furniture or exposed brick. Less 'graphic', more 'art'.

Evergreen

Muted sage greens with light roads. Organic and calming. Pairs well with botanical prints, linen and natural materials. A popular choice for living rooms and bedrooms.

Pastel

Light, colourful and playful. Streets in muted pastels on a soft background. Great for nurseries, kids' rooms or anywhere you want something a little more cheerful.

How to decide

The fastest way is to try them live in the editor — it takes about two seconds to switch. Start with Monochrome as your baseline, then toggle through to see what catches your eye. The style that makes you go 'oh' is usually the right one.
