Designing your poster

How does the design process work?

It's fully live and visual — no guesswork. Open the editor, search for any place in the world, then customise the map style, colours, shape, and text until it looks exactly how you want it. What you see on screen is exactly what gets printed. The whole thing usually takes two to five minutes.

Do I need an account to design one?

No. The editor is completely free and needs no account and no payment — you only pay when you have something you love and decide to order it.

Will the print look exactly like what I see in the editor?

Yes — that's the whole point of the live editor. The preview is a direct representation of the final print at high resolution. Colours may appear very slightly different between screens and matte paper (screens are backlit; print is not), but the layout, text, and map detail will be identical.

Can I use any location in the world?

Yes — any city, town, village, street, landmark or set of coordinates anywhere on the planet. Just type it into the search bar or paste in latitude/longitude coordinates if you want to pin a very specific spot.

Can I add my own text — names, dates, a quote?

Absolutely. You can add a title, subtitle, date, names, coordinates, and a short tagline. Every field is optional — use as many or as few as you like.

Is my design saved if I close the browser?

Yes. Your design is automatically saved to your browser as you work, so you can close the tab and come back later. You'll find it exactly where you left it.

Printing & quality

What paper and print quality can I expect?

Every poster is printed on 200gsm premium matte fine-art paper — smooth, uncoated and non-reflective, so there's no glare and the fine street detail holds. FSC-certified materials or equivalent.

Do you offer a quality guarantee?

Yes. Damaged, misprinted, or wrong in any way that's on us — we reprint and reship at no cost. Email us within 30 days with photos of the print and the packaging, and we'll sort it.

Will it fit a standard frame?

Yes. All four sizes are standard frame sizes — A4 (21×30cm), B3 (30×40cm), B2 (50×70cm) and B1 (60×90cm). They fit frames from IKEA, Dunnes, Penneys, and any high-street framing shop. You don't need to get anything custom cut.

Which size should I choose?

Our most popular size is B3 (30×40cm) — it suits almost any wall and it's a standard frame size, so it's easy to reframe later. A4 (21×30cm) is ideal for a shelf, a desk or as part of a gallery wall. B2 (50×70cm) has real presence above a sofa or bed. B1 (60×90cm) is the statement piece for a hallway or a big blank wall. If you're torn, go one size bigger than you think — prints always look smaller once they're up.

Frames

Can I order my poster already framed?

Yes — in black, white, natural wood or dark wood, on the 21×30, 30×40 and 50×70 sizes. The 60×90 is sold as a print. Framed prints arrive ready to hang with the hardware included, so there's nothing to buy and nothing to assemble.

What are the frames like?

Solid wood, with a slim 14mm face and 22mm depth — a clean, modern profile rather than a chunky gallery moulding. Black, white, natural wood or dark wood. FSC-certified materials or equivalent, glazed with shatterproof plexiglass rather than glass, and they arrive assembled with the hanging kit already fitted.

If you want something heavier or more ornate, order the print on its own — every size we sell is a standard frame size, so you can pick exactly the frame you want locally.

Is the frame glass?

No — it's shatterproof plexiglass rather than glass. It looks the same on the wall, it's far lighter, and it won't break in transit. Better for a big print, and better for a house with kids in it.

My frame looks tinted or marked — is it damaged?

Almost certainly not. The plexiglass ships with a thin protective film over it, and that film often looks tinted, cloudy or scuffed. Peel it off and the surface underneath is perfectly clear. It's the most common thing people get in touch about, and it's nearly always just the film.

Should I get it framed, or frame it myself?

Either works — every size we sell is a standard frame size, so a shop-bought frame will fit without anything custom cut. Ordering it framed costs more and takes about a week longer to arrive, but it lands finished, protected in transit, and ready to go on the wall the day it arrives. If it's a gift, framed is the one to pick.

Ordering & delivery

Where do you deliver?

We currently ship to Ireland and the United Kingdom only. We're a small Irish business and we'd rather do two countries properly than twenty badly — more regions will follow.

How long does production and delivery take?

Every poster is printed to order, so nothing ships the same day. After that it depends on whether you order it framed:

A print on its own — 3 to 6 working days, door to door. It's printed close to you and posted out tracked.

Framed — 7 to 12 working days. Framed prints are assembled at our framing partner in mainland Europe, so allow roughly a week longer.

Those are the figures we actually see rather than a best case. If it's a gift for a particular date, order with time to spare, and allow longer in the run-up to Christmas. You'll get a tracking link by email the moment it ships.

Is shipping free?

Yes — free tracked shipping to Ireland and the UK on every order. No minimum, no code, nothing to add at checkout.

How is the poster packaged?

Unframed posters are rolled and sent in a sturdy cardboard tube — never folded. The tube is sealed and wrapped to protect against moisture in transit. It arrives ready to flatten and frame (just leave it rolled loosely overnight if needed). Framed prints are boxed and corner-protected.

Returns & issues

What if my poster arrives damaged?

Rare, but it happens in transit. Email us within 30 days and we'll reprint and reship at no cost. One thing that really helps: keep the packaging and send photos of the print, the box inside and out, and the shipping label. That's what lets us get a replacement moving straight away instead of going back and forth.

Can I return or cancel my order?

Because every poster is custom-made to your exact design, we can't accept returns for change of mind. However, if we make an error or there's a quality issue, we'll always make it right. Please double-check your design in the editor before ordering — what you see is what gets printed.

Can I make changes after I've ordered?

Because posters go into production quickly, we can't guarantee changes after checkout. If you realise there's a mistake immediately after ordering, email us as fast as possible at mappedmomentsco@gmail.com and we'll try to catch it before it prints. The sooner you contact us, the better the chance we can help.

Gifts & special occasions

Can I order a poster as a gift?

It's one of the most popular things people use us for. Anniversaries, weddings, new homes, birthdays — a map poster of a place that means something to someone is a genuinely thoughtful gift. There's no pricing information in the packaging, so it arrives as a clean gift. You can also ship directly to the recipient at checkout.

Can I ship directly to the gift recipient?

Yes — just enter their address at checkout instead of yours. We don't include any pricing information in the packaging.

I'm not sure what location to choose for a gift — any suggestions?

The most meaningful ones tend to be: where they grew up, where they live now, where they met their partner, where they got married, or a place they always talk about going back to. If you're stuck, where they're from is almost always the right answer.
