What to write on a map print: 40 lines for every occasion

Choosing the place is easy. You know where you met, where you got married, where they were born. The words underneath are where most people stop and stare at the screen.

Our advice: keep it short. One line, five or six words at most, then names and a date. The map does the talking. Here are 40 lines we see work.

Where you met

  • Where we first met
  • Where it all began
  • The night it all started
  • Where I found you
  • It started here
  • First date, last first date

Engagements

  • Where we got engaged
  • She said yes
  • He said yes
  • The question, the answer
  • Forever starts here

Weddings and anniversaries

  • Where we said I do
  • Mr & Mrs
  • Year one
  • The first page
  • Still the best day
  • Where forever started

New babies

  • Where you were born
  • Our first boy / Our first girl
  • Hello, world
  • The day you made us a family
  • Where our story got bigger

Homes

  • Our first home
  • Home sweet home
  • Where we grew up
  • Home is wherever you are
  • All roads lead here
  • Est. 2026

Hometowns and favourite places

  • Our happy place
  • The place that made us
  • Summers in Lahinch (use your own place)
  • Where my heart is
  • Always home
  • Wish you were here

Memorials

  • Forever in our hearts
  • Where we'll always find you
  • Gone but never far

As Gaeilge

  • Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin (there's no hearth like your own)
  • Grá go deo (love forever)
  • Baile (home)

A few rules that always work

  1. Line, then names, then date. It reads naturally from top to bottom.
  2. Use the date that matters, not the date you're ordering.
  3. Coordinates are optional. They look smart, but leave them off if the print already feels busy.
  4. Check spellings twice, especially Irish names and fadas. We check every design by hand before it prints, and we'll message you if anything looks off.

Still stuck? Send us a message with the place and the occasion and we'll suggest a line that fits.
