Anniversary gifts by year: a map of where you said I do (silver, ruby and golden)

Big anniversaries deserve more than a card. Whether it's your own silver wedding or your parents' ruby, one gift works for every year: a map of the place where you said I do, with both names and the date underneath.

Here are the traditional gifts for the milestone years, and how to make a map print fit each one.

The traditional gift for each anniversary

  • 1st: paper
  • 5th: wood
  • 10th: tin
  • 15th: crystal
  • 20th: china
  • 25th: silver
  • 30th: pearl
  • 35th: coral
  • 40th: ruby
  • 45th: sapphire
  • 50th: gold
  • 60th: diamond

How to match the map to the year

  • Paper (1st): the print itself is the paper gift. See our paper anniversary ideas.
  • Wood (5th): choose the natural or dark wood frame.
  • Silver (25th): a grey, black-and-white map style in a white frame looks quietly silver on the wall.
  • Ruby (40th): put a red heart on the spot where you married.
  • Golden (50th): our Black & Gold style draws the streets in gold on black. It's made for a golden wedding.

What to put on it

  • The church, hotel or registry office where you married (search it by name, address or Eircode)
  • Both first names
  • The wedding date
  • A line such as "Where we said I do", "Where it all began" or "40 years and counting"

Stuck for words? We have 40 lines for a map print.

Buying it for your parents?

A ruby or golden anniversary is often a family gift. A few tips:

  • Check the church and the date with an aunt or uncle before you order. It's easy to mix up a parish.
  • If brothers and sisters are chipping in, one framed 30×40 is the one most people choose for over the fireplace.
  • We can post it straight to them. There are no prices in the box.

The practical bits

  • Prints from €29.99, framed from €69.99
  • Free delivery anywhere in Ireland
  • Every design is checked by hand before it prints
  • For Christmas, order framed by 7 December and unframed by 14 December (see our Christmas order dates)

Not a phone person? Send us a message on Facebook with the place, the names and the date, and we'll design it for you and send a free preview.
