Somebody close to you has just got engaged. The champagne will be gone by Sunday and the cards will end up in a drawer. If you want to give them something they'll still have in ten years, give them the place it happened.
A map of the exact spot
Every proposal has a place: a pier in Howth, a bench in Kinsale, a hill above the town they grew up in, a restaurant in Galway. A personalised map poster puts that spot on paper, street by street, with a small heart or pin on the exact place, both names and the date underneath.

It works because it's specific. Plenty of shops sell "Ireland" prints. This is theirs, and nobody else has the same one.
Ideas that work well for engagements
- The heart layout. The map sits inside a heart shape, with the words below. Made for this occasion.
- "Where we got engaged" or "She said yes". Keep the line short. Names and the date do the rest.
- A darker colour for a modern home. Midnight blue and Black & Gold look striking in a frame. Monochrome and Coastal suit a lighter room.
- Add the coordinates. A small line of latitude and longitude under the names is a nice detail, and it fills itself in.

Don't know the exact spot?
Ask a friend of the couple, or go one level up: the town or the venue is just as meaningful. If it was abroad (Paris, Lisbon, the Amalfi coast), that works too. The map can be anywhere in the world.
How to make one
- Open the free editor. This link starts you on our Howth engagement design.
- Search the place, drag the map until it looks right and move the heart onto the spot.
- Change the names and date, and pick a colour.
- Choose a size, from A4 up to 60 × 90 cm, framed or unframed.
It takes a few minutes and you don't need an account. Delivery to Ireland and the UK is free. Prints arrive in about 3–6 working days and framed prints in 7–12, so it's easy to have it ready for an engagement party.
